With its unique, translucent seed pods and soft purple blooms, the Honesty Plant (Lunaria biennis) brings a touch of whimsy and magic to the garden. Known as the "Money Plant" due to its coin-like, silvery seed pods, this biennial has captivated gardeners for centuries with its striking appearance and symbolic meaning—representing honesty, integrity, and fortune.
The Honesty Plant produces leafy, fragrant rosettes before sending up tall, slender stems adorned with clusters of delicate purple or white flowers in spring its second year. By summer’s end, the seed pods begin to mature, their silvery sheen catching the light in a way that seems almost otherworldly. These shimmering pods are prized in dried arrangements, where they hold their shape and beauty throughout the seasons.
Honesty is an easy grower, thriving in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade and can grow 1-3ft tall and 1-2ft wide.
